We will continue talking about our relationship with money and our relationship with God's Kingdom. "We are not called to be consume but to participate and bless."
Paul, I enjoyed your talks regarding Branding/Money philosophy. Thanks for sharing such an honest, unselfishly motivated Biblical point of view. So refreshing.
I agree that this is one of the greatest silent threats we face!
After thinking more about your messages, some thoughts occured to me. They involve the reformation of a money philosophy, not a simple formation. I wish the viewpoint you presented could have been the first we'd all ever heard but it's most likely not. Old habits die hard. For those of us with skeletons in the closet:
I wonder if you would post or discuss the formation of a money philosophy for couples? What if our money philosophies differ? Do you have any suggestions or direction for couples (or 1/2 of a couple) who desire to make progress in this area? (This might be a question I need to ask you personally sometime and I don't have a problem with that---I just don't think we are alone in our struggle, though.)
Finally, I wonder if you have any specific ideas for further freeing people who grew up with a misguided money/skewed branding philosophy? Is there a book you can suggest or more scripture you can post?
Any Wheatland Missioners have other thoughts for me? Does anyone else want to pray together for those of us in our body who desire to change or are even resistant to reformation in this area? Let's also pray for the protection of our children in this area. (Branding is nearly inescapable in this day and age. Don't we all need to be consistently freed.)
Anonymous, Thanks for the encouraging words. I am grateful that we all live in a prosperous country and that, generally speaking, we have all we need. However, it is so easy to fall prey to the call of consumerism.
Oh duh---sorry I wasn't signed in. Thanks for the thoughts Marci & WM.
I guess I'm looking for an easy answer or some formula...something more I can do. I'll just keep praying like I have for several years now. It will be easier, though, to know I'm not alone in prayer!
Oh yeah! As I've meditated on 2Cor 8 & 9 I've really grasped the idea of God simply wanting what I have (not what I don't have). In other words, I need to find peace in doing what I can and stop worrying about what is out of my hands. That was definitely the further reading/meditation I needed.

Thanks, friends! With Love and Prayers---
Anonymous,
John and I are starting a prayer group in our home. If this interests you, give us a holler!
